James River added the Pioneer District volleyball tournament title to its resume, as the Knights knocked off Bath County 24-26, 25-13, 25-20 and 25-20 Saturday night at Covington High School.

James River swept the top honors on the the 2011 All-Pioneer District Baseball Team, as Tyler Duke and Harry Falls were named the Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Bath County's Jailyn Ford was named the Player of the Year and James River's John Shotwell was selected as the Coach of the Year on the 2011 All-Pioneer District Softball Team.

James River's K.W. King was named the Player of the Year on the 2011 All-Pioneer District Boys Soccer Team.

Bath County's Angela Herscher was named the Player of the Year on the 2011 All-Pioneer District Girls Soccer Team.

Behind another strong pitching performance from Jailyn Ford, Bath County defeated Holston, 3-0, to win the Group A Division I Softball State Championship Saturday morning at Virginia Tech as part of the 2011 Spring Jubilee.

In addition to tossing a one-hitter and striking out 13, Jailyn Ford drove in the game’s only run in the top of the seventh to lead Bath County past Madison County, 1-0, Friday morning in the Group A Division I Softball State Semifinals, Friday at Virginia Tech as part of the 2011 Spring Jubilee.

RICHMOND – In a low scoring contest that saw both Bath County and Sussex Central shoot under 30% from the field, the Tigers outlasted the Chargers 37-29 in the girls Group A, Division 1 state semifinal at the Stuart C. Siegel Center on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University Thursday afternoon.

Parry McCluer came away with the top honors on the 2010-11 All-Pioneer District boys basketball team, as Zach Stinnett and Nelson Fox were selected as the Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.
