James River added the Pioneer District volleyball tournament title to its resume, as the Knights knocked off Bath County 24-26, 25-13, 25-20 and 25-20 Saturday night at Covington High School.

James River secured the No. 2 seed in the Region C, Division 2 tournament, while Bath County earned the No. 2 spot in the Division 1 tournament.

Maribeth Kern led the Knights with23 kills, two aces and a block, Ashley Cummings  tallied 45 assists, while Connor Sprinkle and Jenna Sprinkle finished with eight kills each.

In the semifinals Saturday afternoon, the Knights swept Craig County 25-14, 25-12, 25-20.

Kern led James River with 11 kills, two aces and a block. Rene Smith tallied 10 kills, two aces and a block, while Cummings added 33 assists and seven aces.
