Tony, please elaborate on you critisim of the final quater of the James River / Radford game. I, too, was a mutual observer of the game and agree with most of your comments. I felt the officiating was good, especially concerning 2 areas of the game. One, these offcials called traveling often and accurately, something most high school and college offcials do not have the courage to do. And secondly, a technical was assested to one coach who was not only beligerent all night, but was walking out on the court all game as well to the point players had to alter their paths. I went to see the game because of the two fine teams involved and wish both continued success. Please explain your critisim

First let me say, I'm not a supporter of either team. I was a mutual observer just taking in the game. Second, I will say that I am a college official and both teams played a great game and the better team won tonight. As an official, I was truly disapointed with the three men in stripes. Officials are to control the game and not be seen. However, they made sure everyone saw them tonight, especially in the fourth quarter. If our commissioner saw them, they would NEVER work another playoff game and probably serve a few games in the suspended status. If this was the best that the VHSL and the Appalachian Association have, then I really feel sorry. I've seen better officials at my son's rec league game. By the way, I read in this story that James River was 19-30 at the line and Radford was 8-10. That should tell you something right off the bat. Again, both teams played well and I'm sure these two will meet in the state tournament.
