James River pounded out 15 hits, as they claimed a 14-4 Pioneer District baseball win over Bath County Tuesday evening in Buchanan. The game was called in the sixth inning due to the slaughter rule.
Tyler Duke and Ryan Hepler each went 3-for-4 with two RBI's to lead the Knights (3-4, 1-0). Andrew Tucker went 2-for-3 and scored four runs and Brent Cummings went 2-for-3.
Tyler Duke earned the win on the mound for James River and Jaret White hurled two innings of shutout ball in relief.
Derek Brinkley led the Chargers (1-7, 0-1) with a 2-for-3 effort, including a two-run homer and Eric Woodzell added a pair of hits, including a double.
