Grant Sowder singled in the winning run with no outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, as James River edged Glenvar, 6-5, in a non-district baseball battle Wednesday night in Buchanan.

The Highlanders led 4-0 early, before the Knights (7-4) rallied to tie.

Glenvar regained the lead at 5-4 in the top of the seventh, but River rallied in the bottom of the inning to send the game into extra frames knotted at 5-5.

The Knights escaped a bases loaded jam in the top of the ninth, before Sowder's single ended the game in the bottom of the ninth

Tyler Duke was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for James River, while J.B. O'Conner added two hits and an RBI.

Anthony Ratliff was 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Glenvar, while Cory Bolden was also 3-for-5. Todd Dunbar slugged a solo home run for the Highlanders.
