The James River ladies' soccer team cruised past Pioneer District opponent Parry McCluer for their second straight district win with a final score of 9-1 Tuesday night in Buchanan.
Kendall Moyer and Collette Ward led the Knights in goals each with two, and Anna Hoyt led the team in assists with two. Kendall Moyer began scoring for the Knights finding the back of the net just six minutes into the game. Scoring was steady for James River from there with Heather Reynolds making one from well outside the 18. Elizabeth Amos added one off a pass from Haley Baker, Collette Ward connected off of a long cross from Teresa Theimer, and Anna Hoyt was set up in the middle by Kayla Beckner to finish out first half scoring for the Knights.
Kiara Smith added the only Parry McCluer goal in stoppage time of the first half.
The second half began the same way the first half did for James River with Kendall Moyer capitalizing on a pass from Anna Hoyt just two minutes into the half. Stacie Hogan scored next with another assist from Anna Hoyt, Teresa Theimer received a pass from Maggie Grumbine to score one more for James River, and Collette Ward added the last goal in stoppage time.
The Knights took over 40 shots. while the Blues' goal keepers had 18 saves.
James River, now leading the Pioneer district, will finish out district play next week playing away at Parry McCluer Tuesday and at home against Bath for Senior night on Friday.
