In a battle of the rivers, James River came out on top, as they claimed a 1-0 non-district girls soccer win over Staunton River Wednesday night for its sixth-straight victory.

The Knights' Katherine Day connected with Haley Baker on a corner midway through the first half to put James River up 1-0, a lead they defended and held on to for the win. 

James River (8-5) out-shot the Golden Eagles 19-14. 

Staunton River goal keeper Moira Guzi had eight saves while James River goal keeper Yana Conrad had 11 for the evening. 

James River will finish up regular season play and look for a district sweep with a home game against Bath County High School Friday night.
