The James River Lady Knights defeated the Bath County Chargers Friday night in Buchanan, 4-1, to win the Pioneer District regular-season girls soccer title.
Heather Reynolds scored ten minutes into the game and assisted a goal by Haley Baker less than a minute later to put the Knights (9-5, 4-0 PD) up 2-0 with just under 30 minutes to play in the first half.
Bath County's Mary McCoy scored next with the only goal for the Chargers of the evening.
Collette Ward added one more for James River in stoppage time of the first half putting the Knights up 3-1 at the half.
Mid-way through the second half, Kendall Moyer scored off an assist from Maggie Grumbine to secure James River's win and to put the Knights at the top of the Pioneer District with a 2010 District sweep.
Bath County goal keepers had 16 saves for the evening, Shonique Gardener with five and Alexa Faraone with 11.
The Knights will host the #2 seed of the Mountain Empire District in a home match on Tuesday, June 1st. to begin Region C play.
