The James River girls' soccer team started Region C play Tuesday night with a first round win over Bland County, 14-1, in Buchanan.
Kendall Moyer led the scoring for James River with two goals and Anna Hoyt and Kendyl Kelly each had two assists for the Knights.
Haley Baker began the scoring for James River with an assist from Anna Hoyt. Heather Reynolds followed with one of her own and Elizabeth Amos, Maggie Moniot (assist Hoyt), and Anna Hoyt each added one for the Knights. Betsy Linkous, Ebony Davis (assist Kelly), Alexis Williams, Teresa Theimer, and Logan Fleming (assist Kelly) also scored in the first half for James River putting the Knights up 10-1 at the half.
Jessi Peery of Bland County had the Lady Bears' only goal with 24 minutes left in the first half.
Second half goals for the Knights were scored by Kendall Moyer with two, Maggie Grumbine, and Yana Conrad.
Bland County goal keeper Cali Lewis had eight saves for the Lady Bears.
James River moves on to a semi-final game tonight at George Wythe High School in Wytheville. The Knights will play Radford at 5:30 p.m.
