James River opened its volleyball season with a 25-14, 25-22 and 25-17 victory over Alleghany Thursday night in Low Moor.

Maribeth Kern led the Knights with four kills, one block, five aces and two digs. Taylor Statome had one kill, seven assists, two aces and four digs, while Savannah Sharkey added two kills, one assist and two blocks. 

James River returns to the courts Monday when they travel to cross-county rival Lord Botetourt.
