In a battle of county rivals, James River claimed a hard-fought 21-25, 30-28, 25-21 and 28-26 non-district volleyball win against Lord Botetourt Thursday night in Buchanan.

Maribeth Kern notched 21 kills, six digs, and four aces to lead the Knights (3-1). Taylor Statome tallied 35 assists and two aces, while Hailey Cook finished with 10 digs. 

Rachel Parker led the Cavaliers (3-4) with 38 assists and Macey Tyree recorded 12 digs.
