Altavista used a big second quarter, as the pulled away for a 29-13 non-district football win over James River Friday night in Buchanan.
The Colonels (2-0) took an 8-0 lead in the opening quarter on a 29-yard pass from Ricky Adams to Jordan and then completed the two-point conversion.
The Knights (1-2) would score early in the second quarter on a 23-yard pass from Jordan Talbott to Chris Ware to pull to within one, 8-7. A 72-yard pass from Adams to Hunt, a 68-yard run by Brown and a 41-yard pass from Adams to Brown would give Altavista a 29-7 halftime lead.
James River would score once again in the fourth quarter, this time a 2-yard blocked punt return by Justin Stevens to make the final 29-13.
Jordan Talbott completed 30 of 52 passes for 302 yards, with one TD with three interceptions to lead James River.
