Despite a game-high 24 points from Keely Fresh, Rockbridge County still fell to James River, 49-45, in non-district girls' basketball action Wednesday night in Lexington.
The Knights (8-1), who led 27-21 at the break, extended their advantage to 37-29 after three quarters of action. The Wildcats (3-5) clawed their way back in the fourth quarter, outscoring their visitors 16-12, but it wasn't enough, as James River held on for the four-point road win.
Skye Jordan led James River with 12 points.
Lauren Rowsey added 14 points and eight rebounds for Rockbridge.
