James River opened up Pioneer District play with a 43-35 girls' basketball win over Parry McCluer Tuesday night in Buena Vista.
The Knights (9-1, 1-0), who led by a slim 19-18 margin at the half, outscored the Blues (0-10, 0-1)13-10 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 32-28 heading into the final quarter. They continued to have the upper-hand in the fourth quarter, earning the 43-35 win.
Morgan Hufford led James River with a game-high 16 points. Ashley King chipped in with 14 points and four steals, while Reanna Hamm added eight points and 10 rebounds.
Logan Staton paced Parry McCluer with14 points and eight rebounds.
