Covington placed three players in double-figures, as the Cougars claimed a 55-41 Pioneer District girls' basketball win over visiting James River Thursday night.
The Knights, who led 23-17, at the half, saw the Cougars go on a 27-10 run in the third quarter to take a 44-33 lead into the final quarter. Covington remained in control in the fourth quarter to claim the 14-point home win.
Ashley King paced James River with 16 points.
Autumn Phillips and SaMone Moore led Covington with 16 points apiece. Leteashia Clarke added 14 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.
