James River jumped out to an early lead to earn a 50-37 victory over Graham in the opening round of the Region C, Div. 2 girls' basketball tournament Wednesday night in Buchanan.

James River (22-4) now meets PH-Glade Spring at 7:45 p.m. Friday night in the semifinals at Radford High School.

The Knights rode out to a 21-18 halftime lead and slowly pot away the G-Men (14-10) in the second half, as they claimed the 13-point win.

Karly Morgan paced Graham with 12 points.

Ashley King led James River with game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds. Reanna Hamm socred 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
