In a see-saw battle, Blacksburg outlasted Salem 61-52 in a River Ridge District boys' basketball game Friday night in Blacksburg.

Salem used a balanced scoring attack, as the Spartans rolled to a 57-26 River Ridge District girls' basketball win over visiting Blacksburg Friday night.

Blacksburg jumped out to an early advantage, as the Bruins claimed a 70-62 River Ridge District boys' basketball win over visiting Pulaski County Tuesday night.

Blacksburg won its first River Ridge District game of the season, as the Bruins outlasted winless Cave Spring 37-36 in girls' basketball action Friday night in Blacksburg.

Blacksburg High School hosted another successful Austin Cloyd Memorial Girls Basketball tournament. Held December 27^th  – 29^th, girls basketball teams from across the state of Virginia participated. The tournament is held in the memory of Austin Cloyd, a member of Blacksburg’s 2005 girls basketball team, whose life was tragically cut short in the 2007 Virginia Tech tragedy.

Sports and Entertainment Marketing has become a hot a career area and several students at Blacksburg High School are getting an early start on this career path.

Blacksburg's Noah Combs was recently named Virginia's Cross Country Freshman of the Year by Milestat.com, Virginia's premier track and field website. In addition several other local runners were named to the first, second and honorable mention teams.

Kaleb Bohrnstedt scored a game-high 21 points to help lead Blacksburg to a 55-43 non-district boys' basketball win over Brookville Thursday in the second day of the Northside Invitational Tournament in Roanoke.

Blacksburg is still searching for its first win of the season, as South County claimed a 36-24 non-district girls' basketball win in the opening round of the Austin Cloyd Memorial Basketball Tournament Tuesday afternoon at Blacksburg High School.
