Blacksburg broke out to an early lead en route to a 6-1 non-district softball win over Lord Botetourt Friday in Daleville.
Lauren Williams had a big two-RBI single in the top of the 3rd inning to open the scoring for Blacksburg. Hailey Porth blasted a two-run homer in the 5th inning to make the score 4-0. The Bruins ended their scoring in the 7th inning with a Lilly Potts RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Lauren Williams.
Micaela Gordon pitched a complete game six-hitter while striking out three for the win.
Top hitters for the Bruins (2-1) were Morgan McCoy 3 hits, including two doubles, Lilly Potts two hits, Hailey Porth two hits and a home run, Lauren Williams one hit and three RBIs, and Kaelie Altizer added a hit.
Kristen Toppel and Katie Booth had two hits each for the Cavaliers.
