blacksburg-bruinPulaski County jumped out to a 5-0 after two innings and held on to defeat host Blacksburg 5-3 in River Ridge District softball action Friday afternoon.

Sara Wright's homerun with two runners on in the second inning was the big blow for the Cougars.

Brooke Hundley added two hits for Pulaski County. Jordan Chrisley and Carli Brewer chipped in with one hit each.

Kate Smith scattered twelve hits while striking out two batters to earn the win for the Cougars.

Blacksburg's (6-4-1, 1-3-1 RRD) runs came in the bottom of the seventh inning behind a three-run homer by Hailey Porth.

Morgan McCoy led Blacksburg with three hits. Lauren Williams and Gabbie Meek added two hits each. Micaela Gordon, Addie Graves, Courtney Cumbee (double), and Emi Lafon all chipped in with one hit apiece.

Micaela Gordon allowed only five hits and struck out nine for the Bruins.
