The cross country season got underway Saturday with the running of the Clash With The Titans at Hidden Valley High School and there was no big surprises, as both the Blacksburg girls and boys teams ran away from the competition.

Girls

Blacksburg placed six runners in the Top 15, as they ran away from second-pladce finisher Cave Spring, 37-75.

Northside finished third with 103 points, followed by Patrick Henry (106) and Christiansburg (121) to round out the top five teams. Hidden Valley was sixth with 122 points, followed by William Byrd (140) and Salem 176.

Blacksburg placed five runners in the Top 15, as they out-distanced second-place finisher, Patrick Henry, 40-90.

E.C. Glass was third with 97 points, Cave Spring was fourth with 99 points and William Byrd was fifth with 102 points to round out the top five. Christiansburg finished sixth with 154 points, followed by Hidden Valley (174), Staunton River (175) and Northside (236).
