Blacksburg continues to dominate the area cross country scene, as both its boys and girls team swept the Red Race in 7th Annual Knights Crossing Saturday at Green Hill Park in Salem. The Red Race included the larger schools and the out of state teams.
This marked the third-straight invitational in which the Bruins have won, as they swept the Blue Demon Invite last weekend and the Clash with the Titans the weekend prior. Both the Blacksburg boys and girls team are currently ranked No. 1 in Virginia.
BOYS
Blacksburg placed three runners in the top five to pull away with the team title. Andy Gonzalex of Collins Hill won the individual title with a time of 15:46.14, followed by Cave Spring's Cody Seymour with a time of 15:49.57.
Blacksburg finished first with 51 points, followed by Colonial Forge (76), Morristown-West (99), Collins Hill (136) and Hanover (159) to round out the Top 5 teams. Patrick Henry-Roanoke was sixth (182), Cave Spring was seventh (235), William Byrd was ninth (277), Christiansburg was 11th (346), Hidden Valley was 12th (352), Lord Botetourt was 14th (363), Staunton River was 16th (387), Franklin County 17th (407), Patrick County was 19th (418) and William Fleming was 21st (623).

GIRLS
Hannah Brown finished second with a time of 18:34.27 to help lead Blacksburg to the girls' team title.
Blacksburg finished first with a team score of 59, followed by Colonial Forge (86), Collins Hill (94), Hidden Valley (107) and Christiansburg (206) to round out the Top 5 teams. Northside finished eighth (232), Cave Spring was ninth (235), Patrick Henry-Roanoke was 10th (285), Patrick County was 12th (325), William Byrd was 15th (399), Franklin County was 17th (420) and William Fleming was 19th (552).
