Blacksburg earned its first win of the season Thursday, as the Bruins knocked off North Cross 45-38 in non-district girls' basketball action on the final day of the Austin Cloyd Memorial Tournament being played at Blacksburg High School.
With the game tied at 7-all after the opening quarter, the Raiders (3-6) pulled out to an 18-11 halftime advantage. The Bruins (1-9) started clawing their way back in the third quarter, as they outscored North Cross 16-9 to tie the game at 27-27 heading into the final quarter. Blacksburg outscored North Cross 18-11 in the final quarter to pull out its first win of the season by a seven-point margin.
Asia Stephens paced North Cross with 13 points.
Jordan Ballein led Blacksburg with a game-high 16 points.
