Blacksburg won its first River Ridge District game of the season, as the Bruins outlasted winless Cave Spring 37-36 in girls' basketball action Friday night in Blacksburg.
The Bruins (2-12, 1-2 RRD) jumped out to an 11-8 lead after the opening quarter and increased their advantage to 20-14 at the half. The Knights (0-15, 0-4 BRD) mounted a small comeback in the second half, outscoring Blacksburg 22-17. However, it was just short, as the Bruins held on for the one-point win.
Hailey Sitze and Hannah Sitze led Cave Spring with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Alayna Radford paced Blacksburg with 11 points.
