Blacksburg jumped out to an early advantage, as the Bruins claimed a 70-62 River Ridge District boys' basketball win over visiting Pulaski County Tuesday night.
The Bruins roared out to a 26-17 lead after the first quarter and increased their advantage to 41-34 at the half. Blacksburg outscored the Cougars by one in the second half, 29-28, to hang on for the eight-point home win.
Lonnie Mattox paced Pulaski County with 21 points and Matt Greene added 11 points.
Kaleb Bohrnstedt led Blacksburg with a game-high 27 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Eric Krulich scored14 points and Destiny Etuk added 12 points.
