In a battle to the end, Blacksburg managed to claim a 61-57 River Ridge District boys' basketball win over visiting Cave Spring Tuesday night.
The Knights (10-10, 3-5 RRD), who held a slim 39-38 lead at the half, would play on even terms with the Bruins (8-12, 3-5 RRD), as they maintained a narrow 54-53 advantage heading into the final quarter. Blacksburg outscored Cave Spring 8-3 in the final quarter to escape with the four-point home win.
Amin Abuhawaas paced Cave Spring with a game-high 24 points and Ryan Gladfelter scored 11 points.
Kaleb Bohrnstedt led Blacksburg with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Michael Ayares tossed in 14 points and Adam Vaught added 12 points.
