Cave Spring Golfers Win Heritage Invitational

Cave-Springs-LogoCave Spring, led by the brother and sister duo of Drew and Meagan Board, won its third Heritage Invitational team title in the past four years Monday afternoon at the par 72 Londown Downs Golf Club in Forest.

The Knights finished first with a score of 295, followed by Mills Goodwin (297), Salem (298), James River (304) and Blacksburg (306) to round out the top five teams. A total of 19 teams competed.

Kory Watts of James River won medalist honors after beating Hidden Valley's Kristin Hearp on the first playoff hole. Both had finished with identical scores of 68.

Both of the Board's finished with identical scores of even pars 72, Nick Brediger carded a 73 and Jessie Hart shot a 78.

Salem, the defending tournament champions, was led by Andrew Butts (71), Garrett Sweeny (75), Will Chisom (75) and Austin Smith (77).

Watts led James River with a 68, followed by Luke Amey (78), Trevor Statome (79) and Hunter Thompson (79).

Blacksburg was paced by Ty Olinger's round of 72. Ryan Mondy shot a 77, Katie Turk (78) and David Tolley (79).

Hidden Valley, who finished sixth with 309 points, was led by Hearp's round of 68. John Craighead had an 80, followed by Sean O'Donnell (80) and Jack Henry (81).
