Cave Spring scored the winning touchdown in the final 20 seconds to pull out a 21-14 Homecoming win over Blacksburg in River Ridge District action Friday night in Roanoke.
With the game tied at 14-all, a 1-yard run by James Jackson and the PAT would give the Knights (4-4, 2-1 RRD) the lead. The Bruins (2-6, 0-3 RRD) had a final shot at the end, as they drove all the way to the Cave Spring 30-yard line before time expired.
The Knights took a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter on a 44-yard pass from Connor Baker to Bryant Woody.
The Bruins tied the game on a 2-yard run by Hanks in the second quarter. Cave Spring answered with a 13-yard pass from Baker to Woody to regain the lead, 14-7, at the half.
Blacksburg tied the game in the third quarter at 14-14 on an 8-yard run by Kaleb Bohrnstedt.
Blacksburg, who had 216 yards of total offense, was led by Kaleb Bohrnstedt, who completed 10-of-19 passes for 146 yards.
Cave Spring, who recorded 277 yards of total offense, saw Connor Baker complete 15-of-23 passes for 213 yards.
