Adam Hager and Josh Henderson combined for 50 points in helping lead Cave Spring to a 71-59 win over Graham in the semifinals of the Region IV, Division 3 boys basketball tournament Wednesday night at Tazewell Middle School.
Cave Spring (21-4) meets Martinsville (18-4), an 87-60 winner over Grundy, in the Region IV, Division 3 champiosnhip game Friday night at a site not yet determined.
The G-Men (16-5) would take a slim 17-16 lead after the opening eight minutes. The Knights would battle back in the second quarter to tie the game at the half, 34-34. Cave Spring would outscore Graham, 20-12, in the third quarter to pull out to a 54-46 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. The G-Men would stay within striking distance, thanks to a 10-1 spurt, to pull to within three, 62-59, with under three minutes left in the fourth quarter. Cave Spring would then convert 7-of-9 foul shots down the stretch, to pull out the tough 71-59 win.
Adam Hager finished with a game-high 26 points to lead Cave Spring. Josh Henderson contributed 24 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked eight shots.
