Led by a 4-for-4 effort from Alex Dunn, Christiansburg cruised to a 13-3 River Ridge District baseball win over host Salem Tuesday afternoon.
The Spartans (4-8, 1-2 RRD) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Blue Demons (9-4, 3-1 RRD) answered with eight runs in the bottom of the inning and the rout was on.
Cle Hedge led Salem with two hits and a pair of RBIs.
Dunn tallied three singles and a double, including four RBIs for Christiansburg. Justin Bowler was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Canaan Looney was 3-for-3 with a double.
Trey Shumate picked up the win on the mound. He gave up five runs, four earned, on eight hits, walking five and striking out 10 in going the distance.
