Christianburg won five of six championship matches, as they defeated Grundy 254 1/2 to 237 1/2, to claim the Region IV wrestling title Saturday at Christiansburg High School.

Picking up wins in the championship round for the Blue Demons were Joey Dance (112), Devin Carter (130), Zach Epperly (135), Brady Epperly (140) and Rich Eva (152).

Blacksburg's James Peterson won in the 171 pound weight division.

Hidden Valley's David Williams was the winner of the 160 pound weight division.

Salem's Devin Smith won at 189 pounds and Jacob Semones won in the 215 weight class.

Both Christiansburg and Grundy will send 10 wrestlers each to next week's Group AA state tournament, which starts Friday at the Salem Civic Center. The Blue Demons will be looking to win their ninth-straight Group AA title.

Christiansburg's Dayrl Weber was named the Region IV Coach of the Year and Devin Carter was named the Wrestler of the Year.
