Christiansburg jumped out to an early lead, as the Blue Demons knocked off county-rival Blacksburg, 68-52, in River Ridge District boys' basketball action Thursday night in Christiansburg.
The Blue Demons (14-1, 5-0 RRD) staked out to a 19-12 lead after the opening quarter and extended their advantage to 30-20 at the break. Christiansburg outscored the Bruins (6-11, 1-4 RRD) 17-12 to pull out to a 47-32 lead heading into the final quarter. The Blue Demons continued to have the upper-hand in the fourth quarter, as they claimed the 16-point home win.
Kaleb Bohrnstedt paced Blacksburg with 12 points and Eric Krulich added 11 points.
Brenden Motley led Christiansburg with a game-high 23 points. Zach Davis tossed in 13 points and Kam Johnson contributed 11 points.
