Christiansburg, who saw six of its own wrestlers win individual titles, once again dominated its own tournament, as the Blue Demons were 101 points better than second-place finisher Matoaca Saturday evening at Christiansburg High School. Blacksburg finished 34th.
The Blue Demons compiled 278.5 points, followed by Matoaca 177.5, Liberty Christian 148.5, Franklin County 145 and Parkersburg had 133.5 points to round out the top five teams. A total of 35 teams competed.
Winning Individual titles for Christiansburg were Coy Ozias (106 pounds), Joey Dance (132 pounds), Dallas Smith (136 pounds), Zach Epperly (160 pounds), Tyler Miles (170 pounds) and Brandon Taylor (220 pounds.
Second-place finishers included JR Wert (120 pounds), Gabe Lumpp (126 pounds) and Austin Eva (195 pounds).
Ryan Wade finished fifth.
Blacksburg, who entered four wrestlers, finished in 34th place, with seven points.
Shaine Hogan (152 pounds) and Wilt Lucas (285 pounds) finished 1-2, while Ethan Goforth (113 pounds) and Colin Ross (195 pounds), both went 0-2.
Hogan opened his day with a pin over Drew Turner of Amherst in a time of 1:45. He then fell by a pin and a major decision in his final two matches. Lucas lost his opening bout by a pin, before coming back to earn a pin over Peter Martin of Floyd, he later lost by a pin.
Goforth and Ross lost both of their matches by pins.
