Christiansburg placed four players in double-figures, as the Blue Demons ran away with a 70-55 River Ridge District boys' basketball win over visiting Salem Tuesday night. The win allowed Christiansburg to clinch the district regular season title.
The Blue Demons (18-1, 8-0 RRD) took a 21-10 lead after the first quarter. The Spartans (11-7, 3-4 RRD) went on a 16-7 run in the second quarter to cut their deficit to two, 28-26, at the break. Christiansburg outscored Salem 24-7 in the third quarter to extend its lead to 52-33 after three quarters of play. The Blues Demons continued to control the tempo in the final eight minutes, as they took the 15-point victory.
Zach Davis led Christiansburg with a game-high 19 points. Kam Johnson tossed in 16 points, Brenden Motley scored 12 points and Joey Augustin added 11 points.
