Christiansburg placed a pair of players in double-figures, as the Blue Demons claimed a 56-44 win over Magna Vista in the semifinals of the River Ridge District boys' basketball tournament Wednesday night at Hidden Valley High School.
Christiansburg (24-2) now tangles with Hidden Valley (14-12) at 7 p.m. Friday night in the championship game at Hidden Valley.
The Blue Demons staked out to a 15-8 lead after the opening quarter and increased their advantage to 26-20 at the half. It was back and forth in the third quarter, as Christiansburg's Brenden Motley made two big defensive plays, to allow the Blue Demons to take a 41-34 lead into the final quarter. Christiansburg outscored the Warriors (17-5) in the fourth quarter to earn the win, plus a spot in next week's Group AA state semifinal quarterfinals.
Brenden Motley led Christiansburg with 14 points and Kam Johnson scored 13 points.
