Hidden Valley used a balanced scoring attack, as the Titans upset previously unbeaten Christiansburg, 78-62, in the championship game of the Region IV, Division 4 boys basketball tournament Friday night at Salem High School.
The Titans (18-7), who led 19-11 at the end of the first quarter, increased their advantage to 38-29 at the half. Hidden Valley continued to dictate over the final two quarters in earning the 16-point victory and the title.
Brenden Motley led Christiansburg (24-1) with 19 points, including three 3-pointers. Patrick Cummings tossed in 15 points, Zach Davis scored 13 points and Josh Winkle added 10 points.
Taylor Walker led Hidden Valley with a game-high 21 points. Carter Wright and Riley Worrell had 13 points apiece, Austin Beecher scored 12 points and Dee Fletcher finished with 10 points.
Both teams advance to next weekend's Group AA quarterfinals.
