Kristin Harter of Hidden Valley defeated James Wood’s Headley Wilson, 6-3, 6-4, to capture her second Group AA Girls Tennis State Title Thursday afternoon at Radford University as part of the 2011 Spring Jubilee.
"This feels amazing," said Harter. "I was disappointed after losing in the championships last year and that made me work that much harder this year. It's bitter-sweet to see my high school career coming to an end."
Harter won the singles title in 2009 and was runner-up in 2008 and 2010.
Harter will be going for the triple crown, as she will team up with her partner, Emily Seibert in the doubles semifinals at 3 p.m. today (Friday) and with her team at 9 a.m. in the team semifinals at Radford University.
Harter advanced to the finals with a straight-set decision (6-4, 6-0) over Jessica Miller of Stuarts Draft.
Wilson held off York’s Wiktoria Plawska with a 6-1, 6-2 decision to set up her finals matchup with O’Keefe.
