A furious fourth quarter rally by Pulaski County came up short, as William Fleming hung on for a 48-41 season-opening win in a non-district girls' basketball game played Wednesday night in Dublin.

The Cougars (0-1) would jump out to a 6-0 lead behind a basket from Daisy Bell and a pair of baskets from Sydney Anderson. The Colonels (1-0) finally broke the drought at the 3:56 mark of the opening quarter, as they went on an 8-0 run to take an 8-6 advantage. Pulaski County, behind a three-pointer from Kasey Holcomb,  would close out the quarter with a 13-10 lead.

William Fleming opened up the second quarter with a 5-0 spurt to take a 15-13 lead. A basket and a free throw by Anderson would put Pulaski back in front, 16-15, with 4:46 on the clock. The Colonels then went on an 11-2 spurt to take a 26-18 lead at the half.

The Colonels, who led 28-24 early in the third quarter, would then go on a 11-4 spurt over the final five minutes of the quarter to take a 39-28 lead heading into the crucial fourth quarter.

The Cougars mounted a fourth quarter rally, which would allowed them to pull to within six, 45-39, when Hannah Chafin nailed a basket from inside the paint at the 2:51 point. After a Fleming basket that made it 47-39, Colonels, Anderson would hit a basket at the 1:56 mark to once again pull Pulaski back to within six, 47-41. However, the Colonels would hang on for the 48-41 victory.

Keshonda Haynes led Wm. Fleming with 14 points and Ryja Anderson contributed 12 points.

Sydney Anderson led Pulaski County with 17 points. Kasey Holcomb and Daisy Ball finished with nine points apiece. Ball also pulled down eight rebounds in the game.
