Carroll County used a strong second half to pull away from Pulaski County, 63-53, in a non-district girls' basketball game played last night in Dublin.
The Cougars (0-2) raced out to an 18-8 lead after the opening quarter. The Cavaliers would start their comeback in the second quarter, as they outscored Pulaski 16-12, to pull to within six at the half, 30-24.
What ever head coach Marc Motley told his girls at the half must have sunk in, as the Cavaliers came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Cougars 19-9 to take a 43-39 advantage into the pivotal fourth quarter. Carroll County would continue to hold the upp[er-hand throughout the final quarter, as they outscored their hosts 20-14, thus allowing the Cavaliers to leave town with a 63-53 victory.
Rachel Dalton led Carroll County with a game-high 24 points.
Sydney Anderson and Daisy Ball led Pulaski County with 14 points each. Ball also had eight rebounds in the game.
Pulaski County travels across the bridge to take on Radford (2-0) Wednesday night.
