The Cougars held the Maroons to just seven first-half points, as Pulaski County picked up its first win of the season by pounding George Wythe 81-46 in non-district girls basketball action Wednesday night in Wytheville.
Pulaski County (1-7) jumped out to a 24-4 lead after the initial quarter and increased its advantage to a whopping 55-7 halftime lead. In the third quarter, both teams would score 18 points apiece. However, the Cougars still had a comfortable 73-25 lead. The Maroons did win the fourth quarter, 21-8. However, Pulaski County won the game, 81-46, to claim its first victory of the season.
Shaniqua Banks led Pulaski County with 16 points. Sydney Anderson tossed in 14 points and Alexis McCloud added 10 points.
Kristen Atwell paced George Wythe with a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds.
