Pulaski's Hazzard Signs With Kent State

The Cougar football program is pleased to announce that another former Cougar player will be continuing his education and his football career, as Class of 2009 graduate Brandon Hazzard made his decision Tuesday to become a Golden Flash with Kent State University.

While he had several offers right after his senior season for smaller schools, former Pulaski County Cougar Brandon Hazzard wanted to see just what else was out there.   He decided to take a year to attend Hargrave Military Institute to improve his standings.  After an impressive season with Hargrave, Hazzard received several offers again before making his final decision.

Kent State University, which is located in Kent, Ohio, is Ohio's second largest university with more than 35,000 students enrolled  on it's eight campuses around the country.   It also ranks amount the the top 90 public universities in the country, according to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

The Golden Flash football team is coached by Head Coach Doug Martin, and are members of the Mid American Conference for athletics.  Kent State finished it's 2009 season with a disappointing 5-7 record, but expect to show improvement in the upcoming 2010 campaign.  Their schedule for 2009 included Coastal Carolina, Boston College,  Iowa State, Miami-Ohio, Baylor, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Ohio University, Akron,  Western Michigan, Temple, and Buffalo.

Hazzard, who spent most of his time on the defensive side of the ball for Pulaski County, finished his high school career with one touchdown, two fumble recoveries, two pass deflections, ten pancake blocks, twenty tackles for a loss, and 145 total tackles, not counting playoff game statistics.
