Pulaski JVs Split With Liberty In Baseball

Pulaski-Cougars-LogoThe Pulaski County JV Baseball team traveled to Bedford this past Saturday for two games to face the Liberty Minutemen and split the double header.

In the first game, the Cougars could not hold on to an early 4-0 lead, as Liberty collected key hits in crucial situations to tie the score at 6-6 after two.

From that point the Cougars bats faded collecting just three more hits in the game as Liberty remained strong at the plate adding five more runs for a 11-6 final score.

The second game saw plenty of action, some not so positive for the Cougars at times, as Liberty was staked to an early 7-1 lead after two innings highlighted by a home run by Liberty catcher A.Conway.

The Cougars began to climb back into the game when Tyler Golden blasted a three run home run to narrow the gap to 7-4 after three. From that point on the Cougars defense stiffened and made good plays when needed in crucial situations. The Cougars added three runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score at 7-7 and send the game into to extra innings.

Each team had opportunities but pitching and fielding held until with two out in the bottom of the seventh Dominic Morris singled, moved to second on a walk and was driven home by a Dustin Dishon single to the gap in left center for an exciting 8-7 finish.

Brayden Morris picked up the win on the mound, with good hitting support from Golden who was three for three and Dishon three for four.

The JV Cougars next game is scheduled for Wednesday March  24 at home against Giles.
