Pulaski Splits JV Baseball Twinbill With Tazewell

Pulaski-Cougars-LogoThe Pulaski County JV baseball team traveled to Tazewell this past Saturday for two games  ended up splitting the double header. losing the opener 8-7 and winning the second game, 14-1.


In the first game, the teams were tied going into the bottom of the third at 2-2, but Tazewell took advantage of three fielding errors in their half of the inning to go ahead 5-2.

The Cougars scored one in the top of the fifth to narrow the score to 5-3 and then rallied in the top of the seventh to score four runs to take a 7-5 lead.  The Cougars had a total of eleven hits in the game but Tazewell was undeterred and rallied to score three off the  Cougar closer for a final 8-7 score.
 
The second game saw a Cougar team that was not going to let another game slip away as they pounded the baseball, ran hard on the bases, and played solid defense resulting in a 14-1 win. 

The Cougars combined eight singles, four doubles, one triple and seven other base runners to take a lead and never look back.

Brayden Morris picked up the his second win of the year going the distance recording eight strike outs, two walks and giving up two hits and also supported his own effort by going 4-for-4 at the plate. Adam Allen scored three times and Phoenix Ramsey and Dustin Dishon had a multiple hit game.
 
The JV Cougars record currently stands at  5-2, and they have a long break to their next game away at Christiansburg on Tuesday April 20, as the first half of a JV and Varsity doubleheader currently scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
