Pulaski Girls, Floyd Boys Win All-American Relays

amberchurch-2The Pulaski County girls and Floyd County boys came away with the team awards, at the annual All-American Relays held Saturday at Radford High School.

Girls

Pulaski County scored 124 team points with a strong showing from Amber Church, who took first place in each of her five individual events. She was first in the 100-meter hurdles with a record breaking time of 14.74 seconds, breaking the old mark of 14.94 seconds set in 1986 by Blacksburg's Jen Kittle. She was also first in the 300-meter hurdles (49.63), high jump (4-10), long jump (17-09.75) and triple jump (33-06).

Giles finished second with 71 points, followed by Blacksburg (68), James River (59), Radford (48), Floyd County (31), Covington (22), George Wythe (22), Fort Chiswell (19), Auburn (17), Roanoke Catholic (14), Parry McCluer (11) and Grayson County (8).

Church netted individual awards for Outstanding Field Events Performer, Outstanding Running Events Performer and Outstanding Overall Performer for the women.


Boys

Floyd County scored 97 team points,  primarily on team relay performances, distance events and consistent points placement across most events. 

Auburn finished second with 71 points, followed by Radford (69), Blacksburg (63), Giles (56), Pulaski County (55), George Wythe (48), Covington (29), Roanoke Catholic (16), Independence (7), Fort Chiswell (6), James River (5), Parry McCluer (2) and Grayson County (2).loganshumaker-2


Pulaski's Amber Church netted individual awards for Outstanding Field Events Performer, Outstanding Running Events Performer and Outstanding Overall Performer for the women.

tristanboysaw-2George Wythe's Tristan Boysaw earned individual honor for Outstanding Field Events Performer and Auburn's Logan Shumaker grabbed Outstanding Running Events Performer and Outstanding Overall Performer for the men.
