Jack Turner's seven year stint, as the head varsity football coach at Pulaski County High School came to an abrupt end Thursday, as he resigned from that position.
Turner told his team Thursday night of his decision, which was effective immediately.
Turner, who replaced the legenday Joel Hicks in 2003, compiled a 42-33 overall record. In 2008, the Cougars won the River Ridge District title, the regional title and advanced to the Group AA state semifinals, where they lost to Amherst County, 13-7. Pulaski went 12-1 that season.
The Cougars went 0-5 in a tough RRD last year and finished 2-8 overall. With their only wins coming against Radford, 19-7, in the season-opener and Patrick Henry of Roanoke in the third week by a 35-26 margin.
Turner's replacement as head coach is still to be determined.

The only thing I can say is if you had anything to do with this situation, I will pray for your wicked soul. I will also pray that the fleas of ten thousand elephants infest your underwear.
I don't know how a system can acquire so many from out of the area that just crawled out from under a rock pile. They have their own purpose to force upon the people of this county and the people just sit on their arse and take it. Jack Turner is a great person and deserves better than this. Now on to my opinion.
I hope that any administrative person that had any thing to do with this situation wakes up in the morning with the fleas of a ten thousand elephants in your underwear. I hope the people at Pulaski High School will wake and get their heads out of their arse or get out of town.
Sincerely
Ronald J Fuller
