Salem opened up its season Friday night with a lopsided 34-0 win over visiting Lord Botetourt in non-district football action. It was the Spartans 23rd-straight win against the Cavs.

The Spartans, who led 24-0 at the half, continued to pull away in the final two quarters for the 34-0 season-opening win.

Lord Botetourt (1-1) tallied 162 yards of offense, all on the ground. Chris Thompson led the way with 123 yards on 17 carries.

Salem racked up 310 yards of total offense.  Isaiah Harris ran for 74 yards on 10 carries, while Matt Hill completed 12-of-17 passes for 130 yards.
