In a River Ridge District battle, Salem came back in the third quarter to pull out a 14-13 win over visiting Christiansburg Friday night.
The Spartans (8-0, 3-0 RRD) took a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter on a 4-yard scamper by Arrius McConell.
The Blue Demons (5-3, 0-3 RRD) answered with a 3-yard run by Joey Augustin late in the second quarter to pull to with one, 7-6, after the conversion failed.
Christiansburg took the lead in the third quarter on a 16-yard run by De'Quan Green -Gause and Jake Hamley's PAT made it 13-7. Salem answered with a 1-yard plunge by Devante Payne and the PAT made it 14-13, Salem, after three quarters.
Christiansburg, who posted 206 yards of total offense, was paced by De'Quan Green Gause's 67 yards on 15 carries and a TD. Joey Augustin added 37 yards on 14 carries and a TD. Augustine completed 6-of-12 passes for 71 yards
Salem, who notched 273 yards of total offense, was led by Davante Payne's 107 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown. Matt Hill completed 8-of-16 passes for 77 yards.
