Salem came on strong in the two middle quarters, as the Spartans claimed a 76-47 non-district girls basketball win over visiting Northside Tuesday night.
Leading 16-15 after one quarter, the Spartans (3-0) outscored the Vikings (1-2) 23-13 in the second quarter to pull out to a 39-28 halftime lead. Salem outscored Northside 15-4 in the third quarter and 22-15 in the fourth quarter in claiming the victory.
Melanie Mirzayan led Northside with 11 points.
Tay Talor paced Salem with a game-high 26 points. Tessa Foley tossed in 13 points and Carlye Garst added 10 points and seven boards.
