Clutch free throw shooting in the final quarter allowed Salem to pull out a 48-43 non-district boys' basketball win over Broadway in the third-place game of the K-Guard Classic Friday at the Salem Civic Center.
The Gobblers (7-4) trotted out to a 14-10 first quarter lead and increased their advantage to 30-27 at the break. The Spartans (7-2) outscored Broadway 11-7 in the third quarter to take a slim 38-37 into the pivotal fourth quarter. Salem would hit six free throws in the final 1:09 to sneak away with the five-point win.
Mike Richardson paced Broadway with a game-high 17 points.
Tyler Treski led Salem with 14 points. Troy Mann added 13 points and Alex Light pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
