The Cavaliers held Richlands to just seven points in the second half, as Carroll County cruised to a 49-24 Southwest District win Tuesday afternoon in Hillsville.
Carroll County (6-1, 2-0) jumped out to a 20-9 first quarter lead and increased its advantage to 37-17 at the half. With the Cavalier bench seeing alot of playing time in the third and fourth quarter, they would outscore Richlands (1-3, 1-1) 12-7 in the second half, to remain unbeaten in district play with the 49-24 victory.
Rachel Alley led Richlands with eight points.
Lindsey Martin paced Carroll County with a game-high 17 points, including five 3-pointers. She also recorded six rebounds. Kayla Goins chipped in with 12 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Kaitlan Viars added six points and eight rebounds.
Carroll County will host Galax in non-district action today.
