The Cavaliers held the Maroon Tide to just nine first-half points, as Carroll County cruised to a lopsided 57-19 non-district girls basketball win against Galax Wednesday night in Hillsville to sweep the season series.
The Lady Cavs (7-1) raced out to a 23-3 lead after the opening quarter and increased their advantage to a comfortable 38-9 margin at the half. Once again, the younger players would see a lot of court time in the second half, as Carroll County outscored Galax (5-3) 19-10 over the final two quarters, en route to the lopsided 57-19 victory.
Earlier this month, Carroll County defeated Galax 52-38.
Channing Russell led Galax with a team-high five points.
Lindsey Martin led Carroll County with a game-high 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Shyann Dalton and Rachel Dalton boh finished with 10 points each. Kaitlan Viars and Kayla Goins pulled down nine and eight rebounds, respectively.
